Day 1

Up onto the crater rim

Arrival

Arrive Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), Tanzania. Domestic/charter flight or road transfer to Lake Manyara airstrip, then a road transfer of about 2.5 hours to The Highlands. Afternoon at leisure.

Day 2

Ngorongoro Crater

The main event

A full day inside the crater — one of the densest concentrations of wildlife anywhere in Africa — with a hot lunch served on the crater floor.

Day 3

Above the crowds

Olmoti or Empakaai

A half-day hike — either the Olmoti Crater along an ancient Maasai cattle trail, or the Empakaai Crater to see flamingos on the crater lake — plus a Maasai village visit.

Day 4

One last look at the rim

Departure

Final morning at leisure, transfer back to the Lake Manyara airstrip, connecting to JRO for onward travel.
